The Backward Classes Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BICCI) participated as a Special Invitee in the “Prosperous MSMEs – Developed Madhya Pradesh” programme held in Bhopal. Dedicated ₹200 Crore Venture Capital Fund to Strengthen OBC Entrepreneurship The Backward Classes Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BICCI) and IFCI Venture Capital Funds Limited (IFCI VCFL) signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi to promote entrepreneurship, enhance financial inclusion, and strengthen the participation of entrepreneurs from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) in India’s business and industrial ecosystem. The partnership aims to improve access to institutional finance, investment support, and business development opportunities for OBC entrepreneurs across the country. As part of this collaboration, eligible entrepreneurs will be able to access financial assistance through the Government-supported Dedicated Venture Capital Fund for Backward Classes, with a corpus of approximately ₹200 crore. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Lokendra Gurjar, Chairman of BICCI, described the MoU as a significant milestone in expanding access to capital and institutional support for entrepreneurs from backward classes. He emphasized that the initiative would enable MSMEs, startups, and first-generation entrepreneurs to establish, modernize, and expand their businesses, thereby creating employment and contributing to inclusive economic growth. Under the scheme, eligible OBC entrepreneurs can avail financial assistance at a concessional interest rate of 6%, while women entrepreneurs are eligible for an even lower interest rate of approximately 5.75%, reinforcing the commitment to promoting women-led enterprises and financial empowerment. During the programme, Shri V Anish Babu, Managing Director, IFCI Venture Capital Funds Limited, provided a comprehensive overview of the fund, including its objectives, eligibility criteria, financing structure, and application process. He highlighted the fund’s role in supporting entrepreneurs from backward classes by providing growth capital and enabling them to become successful business leaders and job creators. The event was also attended by Ms. Seema Goel, Mr. Arindam Roy, and Mr. Tarun Verma, who shared valuable insights on funding opportunities, investment support, enterprise development, and business expansion available under the fund.
